Henley Festival 2008

Another year seems to have come and gone marked by this amazing event held on the bank of the Thames in Henley.

Henley Festival 2008 - River

This year I was given the task of mixing the band that plays in the Michelle Roux restaurant during the course of the evening.

The decision was made that the PA system and all cabling needed to be rigged overnight in the venue so that the catering company would have free access to the floor the next morning without our access equipment being in their way.

Myself and Liam Keane worked through the night on the Sunday flying the 12 d&b E3 speakers and Q7’s that comprised the PA system for the venue, we also flew the multicore over the tent and set up the control and amps for the system too.

Throughout the rest of the week in between my duties in the Roux I was also helping out on the floating stage micing up the Orchestra’s.

I was also assisting Tim Speight with mixing and looking after the Korean Dulsori Drummers that performed on an additional floating stage built outside the Roux for use during the spectacular fireworks finale to each evening.

As the week progressed the weather did improve and we were fortunate that the sun was shining nicely for the load out, hopefully next year will be much nicer for the in!

Canada Day 2008

Another weekend spent in Trafalgar Square working for RG Jones.

Canada Day

This time around we were providing our services for the annual celebration of Canada Day. This event was spread out over two days with the Monday being an event centered around Canadian rock and folk music. Bands such as the Trews and Jesse Cook were playing throughout the day and the evening was headlined by Kathleen Edwards.

Again front of house was mixed and supervised by Jerry Eade and monitors were again being looked after by Graham.

I was running the stage again assisted by Tom and Matt we were making light work of the busy turn overs – often we had only been given 60 seconds to get one band off and another one on between VT cues and speeches!

The Tuesday (Canada Day proper) began with a bit of street hockey in the square followed by more music with the night being headlined by Jesse Cook.

The weather was also glorious and was reported as being the hottest day of the year so far!

Salute to Israel

This weekend I was working in Trafalgar Square for RG Jones running turn overs on the stage as part of the Salute to Isreal event.

Time was tight on this show and we were making full change overs in under ten minutes. We flew 8 boxes of Martin line array each side for the main PA and also made use of some 8LM and 8LMD boxes for out fills and front fills respectively.

Jerry Eade was on hand at front of house to help look after all the guest engineers for the various bands that were playing and to mix the presenter mics. Monitors were done from the stage by Graham McGarrick.
